Before reading our description and review of this great phone, please note that the following information is not subjective at all, although we are Motorola v525 owners. We tried to identify and focus on all features, good or bad, to provide you with the best v525 informatio.
There are 2 displays in the Motorola V525, as is usual for many clamshell style phones. The internal LCD screen is a large-sized TFT display with a resolution of 176 x 220 pixels, which supports up to 65,536 different colors. A smaller external monochrome screen provides such details as the time and caller ID.
The phone has an integrated VGA camera with a 4x digital zoom. Being enabled for MMS messaging, you can send and receive messages containing pictures/photos, together with text and sound.
There are two games installed in the V525, but more Java™ games and a wide range of other Java applications may be downloaded from WAP sites if you need to use different programs. This phone can also play polyphonic and real MP3 music ringtones, and more of these ringtones may be downloaded if you wish to personalize your phone. The MotoMixer ringtone remixer is also available if you want to make up your own unique ringtone sound. Other items you might like to download are animated screensavers and wallpapers.
Today, many regard access to the mobile Internet as an essential use for their mobile phone, and the Motorola V525 has the necessary technology to provide you with a fast "always on" connection via its onboard GPRS and WAP capability, so you can search WAP sites for any information and services that you need. Full e-mail support via the standard protocols of POP3, IMAP4 and SMTP is another valuable feature of this phone.
The V525's good connectivity via Bluetooth™ wireless data transfer is another feature that will attract those who must have the latest technology in their mobile phone, as many of today's devices are now Bluetooth™ enabled. However, if you need to connect by cable, then this phone also supports the usual link by serial or USB connectors to compatible PCs and PDAs.
As an answer to The Sharp Corporation launched the world's first camera phone in Japan in November 2000 - the J-SH04 model - and this used a relatively modest CMOS image sensor offering a resolution of 110,000 pixels, Motorola has replied with the V series. The subsequent demand for camera phones grew quickly, and since 2000 they have come to represent a distinct niche in the mobile phone market, which has added to the culture change that the mobile phone has introduced into modern life.
The success of camera phones can be partly attributed to the significant amount of advertising that has been used to promote them, although it is also clear that, as they became more commonplace, then peer pressure and the desire to use the latest gadget has encouraged many to join that growing number who wish to own a camera phone. Today, all the major phone manufacturers have at least one cameraphone in their ranges, and some even offer a camera as an optional accessory, which can be plugged into a connector on the phone when needed. However, the principles set out below should apply to all cameras used with mobile phones.
The popularity of cameraphones must partly exist because they have proved to be such useful devices, providing their owners with the means to record still pictures and even video in almost any situation. Since mobile phone users tend to carry their handsets around with them wherever they go, it is quite likely - when an important event needs to be photographed - that a cameraphone will be near to hand rather than a purpose made camera. Also, with the growth of MMS messaging, it is now a simple matter to exchange photographs between MMS compatible phones, and to share photographs between friends and contacts.
In practice, adding a camera to a phone is not as difficult a task as it might seem, because most of the components that make up a digital camera - a battery, display, memory, microprocessor, keypad controls - are already present in the phone, and the only additional parts needed are a lens and a light-sensitive device to complete the camera.
Several technical issues, concerning the design and use of cameraphones, should be considered by those who are contemplating the purchase of a particular model. Some of these points are discussed on the following pages, and they should raise the questions necessary if a cameraphone is one of those features important to the user.
The V525 supports MP3, so the user can select a favorite song as a ring tone. A glance at the external display shows who is calling, and a closer look at the larger main display can show the caller's photo. Up to 1000 phone numbers can be stored in the V525's phone directory, each with photo. Five megabytes of memory space offers room for games, songs, screen savers, and backgrounds which can be easily downloaded directly from Vodafone Live.
Java games, polyphonic and MP3 ring tones are included and the V525 can be further personalized via downloadable themes, with wallpapers and screensavers.
The Motorola V525 also features personal information management (PIM), a WAP 2.0 mobile internet browser, support for GPRS data, a hands free speakerphone, voice memo & dialing and vibrating alert.
The V525 also includes Bluetooth 1.1, for wireless communication with Bluetooth devices such as car kits and hands free headsets.
Although there are smaller and lighter mobiles, we find that the Motorola V525 - like other V series mobiles - delivers just the right balance between size, weight and practicality, feeling comfortable and easy to use - like a "real phone" rather than a miniaturized toy.
Get snapping with the integrated camera, then show everyone what's new with a photo message. When your mates call - see who it is with picture phonebook. Keep in touch on your travels with quad band and make group calls with the built-in speakerphone.
The quad band Motorola V525 is an outstanding member of the much-vaunted new V Series by Motorola. Leveraging exceptional features into fashionable and easy to use clamshell designs is the forte of the V Series, and the V525 in particular.
The most obvious feature of the V525 is the stunning 65k color screen, perfect for use with the integrated digital camera, and also the picture phone book facility. It also makes J2ME content and games even more graphically rich.
The powerful battery gives you up to 390 minutes of talk time, packing all that into a small 123g of weight. When you're tired of talking, fast GPRS and WAP services allow the V525 to be a major part of your data solution.
